Doctoral project is about the punitive shift in U.S. social policy, with a specific focus on the careers of Daniel Patrick Moynihan and James Q. Wilson. Supervised by Gareth Davies and Jonathan Bell. Funded by a Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarship.

Dissertation focused on the troika of Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew, and Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and their contributions to the Family Assistance Plan and the first two years of Nixon's administration. Supervised by Gary Gerstle.

• Lived at Thrive for Life Prison Project's Ignacio House of Studies in the Bronx for three weeks in July 2021 conducting research on the impact of education on formerly incarcerated individuals • Ignacio House is a transitional living community for men recently released from prison who began and/or finished their college careers while incarcerated • Project is a vertical case study of the house and consisted mainly of semi-structured interviews with resident, administrators, and founder; currently writing the final report• Part of university-sponsored fellowship that supports research at the intersection of education, religion, and social justice

• Wrote a senior thesis on Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and American poverty debates in the second half of the twentieth century (“Working-Class Liberal: Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a Changing Democratic Party, and the Politics of Poverty”)• Fellowship was overseen by Professor Michael Kazin and consisted of writing the first two chapters of thesis on Moynihan’s early life

• Conducted literature review for book project relating to the cultural ramifications of the advent of the atomic bomb• Literature review included summarizing and interpreting 90+ potential sources (e.g. journal articles and books)• Currently assisting with a history of the southern United States

• Prepared summaries of House and Senate COVID-related hearings for Health Care team and agency-wide distribution, including executive management (topics included serology testing, aid to essential workers, and the Trump Administration’s response)• Created reports of interviews conducted by the Health Care team surrounding the federal response to COVID-19• Assisted the Comptroller General in advance of his House of Representatives hearing by providing research materials and anticipating potential questions
