I have 20 years of post-graduate engineering experience that has focussed mainly on the design of dams. My experience extends from planning through to construction implementation. I have been extensively involved in the design and construction of large dams, spillway hydraulics, hydraulic model studies, dam safety inspections and small hydropower schemes. I have worked on numerous dam types, including earthfill, RCC, RMC and conventional concrete dams. I have also been responsible for the hydraulic model testing of various dam spillways. I have worked in 17 countries to date. To date I have published over 10 technical papers on dam and hydropower engineering. I currently serve on the Management Committee of SANCOLD. I also serve as South Africa’s representative on the ICOLD Committee on Hydraulics for Dams. I have a PhD Degree in water engineering.
