I spent the summer as an existential risk research fellow at UChicago's X-Lab, where I wrote a wrote a paper considering how potential California regulations on artificial intelligence could de facto apply outside CA. I was mentored by Cullen O’Keefe, a research scientist at OpenAI.My paper, A California Effect for Artificial Intelligence, (head to bit.ly/HJ-CA-effect to read it!) won a prize in the Centre for Governance of Artificial Intelligence’s 2022 Student Essay Contest.
