Analyzed, evaluated, and implemented the migration of the Passport (PS) email network environment into the Consular Affairs (CA) email network at the U.S. Department of State. Performed as required on-site surveys of Passport Agencies to facilitate the migration. Produced all documentation and project plans on the aforementioned migration. Assessed, recommended, implemented, and troubleshot an Exchange High Availability, redundant and fault tolerant architecture which included SANs, replication, and off-site automatic failover. Assisted Exchange operators in CA and PS with escalated issues related to messaging services. Developed, planned and designed a DNS (22+ secondary DNS and DHCP) hierarchy to facilitate a smoothly run network and work with the network team on migrating existing remote sites to 10.x.x.x subnets (including Passport offices). Additionally, assisted with escalating issues concerning the CA’s routers and switches-making recommendations on configuration issues.Designed, implemented, and troubleshot an SMS (22+ sites) hierarchy within CA with future connectivity to IRM’s SMS hierarchy. Produced documentation and implementation plans on the SMS rollout.

Planned, designed, and installed Clustered Exchange servers 5.0 and 5.5 on Compaq and Data General Servers on an X.400 backbone. Developed Workflow applications and implemented Outlook Web Access utilizing SSL and MS IIS 4.0. Supervised two MS Exchange administrators and network administrators. Researched, recommended, designed, installed, and configured first implementation of NetIQ AppManager for CA. NetIQ was initially implemented for MS Exchange in a clustered environment, which has now expanded for production systems for the monitoring and performance analysis tools. Planned, designed, and installed MS SMS 1.2 and 2.0 on classified and unclassified LANs. Advised IRM on technical matters relating to email and network problems. Configured, troubleshot, and maintained 10 Cisco routers. Also, advised upper level management on technical matters related to networking, Internet, email, network performance, and backbone technologies. Responsible for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CA’s DNS implementation (Cisco CNR). Also, worked with Ciscoworks, Cisco ConfigMaker, and HPOpenView.

Supervised a staff of two that standardized DSTI HQ with MS Office 97, MS Exchange 5.0, SMS, SQL, and MS IIS on ALR and Compaq servers. Planned, designed, and installed MS Systems Management Server at various Navy clients and migrated Navy clients sites from MS Mail to MS Exchange on Dell PowerEdge 4000 and 6000 servers. Also, migrated users from Novell 3.1x and 4.1x networks to Microsoft NT 4.0 networks. Also configured Cisco 2500, 4000, 7000, AS5200, and Xylan switches for Navy clients using T1, ISDN, and dial-up lines.

Oversaw the work of five other engineers with various tasks such as managing Windows NT networks (MS SQL V6.5, MS SMS V1.2, and NT servers IIS WWW servers), designing, installing, and troubleshooting Backoffice products. Also in charge of MS Exchange installation and administration. Migrated users from Novell to Microsoft networks. Supervised two help desk technicians, keeping track of all help desk tickets and related customer relations. Installed and maintained Compaq Proliant Rack servers, keeping track of all software maintenance and licensing on those servers.
