The primary responsibility of this role entailed overseeing and managing the advice service, campaigning, and community organising functions of the student union. Additionally, I served as the core safeguarding lead and provided primary support to our five elected sabbatical officers, coaching them on effecting change at the local, regional, and national levels.As part of my duties, I effectively led a team comprising four full-time staff and six part-time student staff. Together, we delivered a wide array of high-quality and impact-driven events, training sessions, advice, and outreach initiatives encompassing both technical and non-technical subjects. I also played a significant role in mentoring these young leaders, empowering them to advocate for policy changes within the University and the Higher Education sector.In my capacity, I extended support to various campaigns involving diverse groups of young people, particularly international students, including those with temporary status and asylum-experienced individuals.Moreover, I took charge of coordinating teaching and pastoral support services within the University as well as managing our partnership with Citizens UK. Additionally, I have been responsible for a substantial annual budget of £250k, collaborating with internal (UoW) and external funders (the Quintin Hogg Trust) to oversee bids and projects backed by senior stakeholders.Furthermore, I successfully project managed a new scheme aimed at reaching out to 25,000 students per term, engaging in proactive well-being conversations to offer guidance and support, including referrals for visa, financial, and mental health assistance.The position I hold is an 18-month maternity cover contract, set to conclude in early September.

As an elected, voluntary, faculty officer, my role is to represent my faculty at Student Council Meetings, attend Learning and Quality of Standards Committees, Quality of student experiences Meetings and Faculty Forums frequently. In these meetings take matters and motions arising from students in my faculty to lobby and implement positive changes to the university. It is important that I possess excellent communication skills as well as be available for students to talk with as often as possible. Keeping up to date with current affairs both within and outside my faculty whilst putting the best interest of the students to mind is critical to this role. This is done along side my degree.
