Working as a senior web developer at Squareweave has been super exciting and rewarding. I’ve been able to use with a whole bunch of different technologies, including Python, PHP, Django, Docker, Openshift and a lot of devops. I've worked with some very large clients, including government agencies, down to small start-up operations.

Leading the team of developers at Limelight Digital as Technical Director allowed me to experience many new opportunities and challenges. I was able to quickly implement new processes and coding standards to help improve overall quality and client satisfaction, and cultivated a cohesive development team who could tackle significantly larger and more complex projects.Once Limelight Digital was acquired by Adcorp in mid-2013, I had a crucial role in integrating the development team into the existing Adcorp structure. This was no small feat considering the print and transactional media-based nature of Adcorp up till this point, and the reliance on outsourcing.The quality of output and scale of projects the Adcorp team could take on also increased because of this successful integration; from small campaign sites to long-term, multifaceted digital strategies.Handling these larger projects required more strict and detailed resourcing schedules, tighter control over output and code quality, and significant risk mitigation efforts. Server and infrastructure management also became a core responsibility, along with an increased need for technical documentation, reporting and education for other pillars of the business.I also assisted the development team with project work, providing overflow support for smaller projects when development capacity was exceeded, and for particularly complex frontend and backend development problems, as well as architectural development and planning.

My responsibilities at Brightlabs varied greatly. For most projects, I was provided with designs, client briefs, wireframes and sitemaps, and was tasked with cutting up and implementing sites into a proprietary CMS, or building custom PHP-based platforms to suit project requirements.I was also part of the system administrator team, and was personally responsible for rolling out a completely new web service infrastructure, including procurement and installation of hardware (SANs, switches, servers etc), configuration and host migration onto the Xen virtualisation platform.As a senior developer I was also responsible for creating and leading a new development team in the rapidly expanding Melbourne branch.

During my tenure at R&B, I was integral in shifting the business from a print-design focused agency with a small development arm, to a digital-focused agency building high quality, high profile sites, whilst leading a team of advanced developers in the latter years.My day-to-day duties included website cutups and implementation, assistance with the wireframe and planning stages, eCommerce development, server administration and internal product development.
