During my summers I work for Filby Construction. This job provides me with flexible working hours over the summer and is a good opportunity for me to get exercise whilst also earning money. Working for Filby Construction has demonstrated to me the great importance of customer service within this industry, indeed in any industry. My responsibilities often vary due to the changing situations and jobs the business has to complete. However, it is always my duty to carry out tasks assigned by my superiors, update customers on any progress being made and ensure an exceptional level of customer service is being provided by myself and other employees.

As a qualified tennis coach the majority of my responsibilities involve the development of players' ability. I am required to create lesson plans for individual and group lessons, organise equipment for lessons, promote the club to youths interested in playing tennis and develop players' abilities through assessing and improving aspects of their game. My time as a tennis coach has developed many of my skills. It has taught me how to communicate with others in an efficient and effective way. I have developed my ability to motivate and inspire people and establish personal relationships with my players, whilst still maintaining a professional attitude towards the treatment and improvement of anyone I coach.

Over the summer of 2017 I was fortunate enough to be employed by Pine Forest Camp and worked at their camp on a J1 visa as a tennis coach and counsellor.I had a wide range of responsibilities whilst working at the camp. In terms of my tennis coaching, I had to run groups sessions for the campers, keep the courts clean to a respectable standard, give certain campers private lessons, write evaluations for private lessons and assist in the running of inter camp tournaments. As a counsellor, my responsibilities involved taking care of the bunk I was situated with. This involved encouraging them to keep their bunk clean, ensuring they ate well and on a regular basis, encourage them to participate in camp activities and support them when they are feeling homesick or upset. My time at the camp was a life changing experience and has left me with many treasured memories and good friends from overseas. The experiences I've had have taught me how to be a leader and how to communicate effectively with co-workers.
