For many years I was a trial and appellate lawyer experienced in intellectual property litigation and the litigation of constitutional law issues. I have handled cases involving challenges to federal and state laws based on the commerce clause, the establishment clause, the first amendment, the takings clause, and Article III's standing requirements. I have extensive experience in patent cases, primarily involving pharmaceutical patents. I also have extensive experience in the area of legal ethics and professional responsibility. I chair the Ethics Advisory Committee of Goodwin Procter LLP and serve as the firm's Deputy General Counsel. I serve on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's Standing Advisory Committee on the Rules of Professional Conduct, including an eight year stint as the Committee's chair. For more than 25 years, I have been a member of the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education, the leading business advocacy group seeking standards-based reform of public education in Massachusetts.
