Composition lessons for beginners to advanced, with a focus on the classical music tradition, from early music through common practice and into twentieth and twenty-first century styles, with guidance skills for anything from children's music to multi-movement full-orchestral works. My teaching is grounded in craft, form, and an understanding of how humans perceive the journey of every element that is put on paper. Beyond offering a firm grasp of traditional and contemporary harmony, melody, and counterpoint, my teaching is heavily influenced by the theories and practices of Marianne Ploger and, by extension, her mentor Nadia Boulanger.
