As an out-of-state second-year electrical engineering student, I am grateful to be immersed in a community that is constantly striving to improve and learn in the realm of engineering. Being about 16 hours away from home has allowed me to leave my comfort zone and explore new possibilities. I have taken multiple classes with integrated labs that have taught me various skills in physical sciences and lab procedures. I am confident that these opportunities have helped me lay the groundwork for the projects I tackle in the future.I have always been fascinated by the sphere of engineering that focuses on innovating new sustainable practices. While I have been one to value and respect the environment, I have never been one to appreciate wasting. This is why I want to use my electrical engineering experience to work on technical projects that will prevent waste and improve sustainability. Electrical engineering is an innovative field that I believe will be an integral part of furthering sustainable and efficient components of future technologies. I am currently a member of the Bama Racing club, where I am learning about the coding language C and have been working to utilize C in tandem with Arduino to make useful components for the Bama Racing Car. I also am a member of the Battery Workforce Challenge Club in which we are designing, testing, and integrating a battery for the Stellantis EV. In Battery Workforce, the work I do is helping me expand upon my analytical lab working skills. Whereas, in Bama Racing, I can work on tasks with a hands-on approach. Working in these two distinct clubs is allowing me to lay a foundation for proper lab methodologies, testing, and analysis. Working in multiple labs as well as these different clubs is helping me to be a better team member and partner. It's also helping me to develop good communication and interpersonal skills. Throughout the year I have worked tirelessly to maintain good marks. Doing so in tandem with extracurriculars. I have been named to the President’s list as well as becoming more involved in my school’s engineering communities. These things together are all a part of my current journey of becoming a knowledgeable and functional electrical engineer.
