Shortly after I started working for GCI, I stumbled across the Business Manager working on some CAD designs and learned that the previous operator had left the company a few months prior to my arrival. Even though I didn't go to college for engineering, I had taken three courses in engineering when I was in high school and retained my knowledge on how to use CAD software and create designs. Once this information had been revealed to my superiors, I was quickly placed in training on how to use the AutoCAD extension my company used for their projects and within a week, I had started doing additional work alongside my role as a Business Support Analyst.As the new and sole CAD Designer for GCI, I manage and design large scale space planning projects for all state agencies within Georgia, rather than just for my territory of GDC and Care & Custody. This meant working with new customers and assisting the field sales representatives in generating the ideal office space configuration for the customer's needs using the methodologies of iterative design. These projects have brought a lot of new enjoyment and challenge to my job, because I am now tasked with exercising my creativity. I have also now been able to go out into the field myself on numerous occasions, either to oversee a project as it is being built or to meet with customers and get a feel for the buildings and spaces that I will have to design panel systems for. I am constantly learning new panel systems and new ways to work with the older ones in order to keep up with market trends in office workspace design. I also use CAD to create 3D imagery to assist the plant managers with visualizing custom product schematics, such as how a custom study carrel or table should look with the given measurements.What started out as a small side job has since exploded into a second fulltime responsibility, as sales for panel systems has more than doubled since I started designing and is continuing to grow successfully.

At the beginning of April 2017, I began my first steps working in a fulltime position for a state-operated agency. GCI is a business affiliated with the GA Department of Corrections that produces and sells an expansive list of items to other state operated agencies and facilities throughout Georgia, and occasionally to out-of-state agencies as requested. All of our products are created at farms and plants across the state using inmate labor. The mission and intent of the program is to give inmates valuable work related skills so that once they have finished serving their terms of incarceration, they may be able to rejoin the workforce and reduce the chances of them slipping back into the system.As a business support analyst, I have many different tasks under my belt, including the general task of meeting sales goals on a monthly and annual basis. Georgia is separated into four different territories that each have a field sales representative and an associated support analyst that works with them from within the office. I, however, take care of a fifth territory on my own without a field rep, the GA Department of Corrections and their Care & Custody unit that handles the distribution of items inmates need during their stay. For my customers within this territory, I manage the preparation of bid proposals and quotes, as well as entering their orders for our products. I communicate with the business teams at each of the state prisons and GDC offices, responding to any of their inquiries, such as those for delivery schedules, product information and recommendations. I've created a good rapport with these individuals in a way that they are comfortable with coming to me whenever they might need assistance.In addition, I also create and maintain customer accounts, catalogue the sales history of our team to the cloud storage, act as the unseen face of the customer service email account, and numerous other tasks that support the sales and marketing team as a whole.

On June 14, 2016, the franchise of Bojangle's that I had worked for previously opened a new store in Kennesaw, and I was asked to come back to work for them again. I accepted because this time around, I was more than just a Crew Member who worked the cash register and drive-thru all the time. I was now also working as a Marketing Intern, which had me going along with the Marketing Director and other Interns to events that Bojangle's was a part of and assisting with different tasks, which included the serving of food and beverage and promotion for the new restaurant. I also was the chosen Bo-Bird, the mascot for Bojangle's, so during many events, I would don the outfit and greet people, dance and take part in pictures. In a collaboration effort with The Sting, I did an event where I promoted both Bojangle's and The Sting on the Kenneaw State University's Kennesaw campus to increase customers and readership, respectively.

As the most enjoyable job that I have ever had, I have done many things for The Sting. Originally the newspaper for Southern Polytechnic State University, it became the new magazine of Kennesaw State University once the two schools merged together in 2015. Prior to the merger, I was a writer for the Games & Tech section of the magazine and wrote many game reviews and other game articles, and also wrote a feature article based on an interview I had with the Director of the Honors Program.In May 2016, I was approached with the opportunity to become the new Editor for the reclassified Tech section of the magazine, which I gladly accepted. Under my new position, I began to take on more tasks, including recruiting and managing writers to work for me in my section, writing more articles for my new section, copy editing the articles submitted to the Tech section, and cooperating with other editorial staff members to publish multimodal pieces, such as podcasts and videos.During the Summer of 2016, The Sting started many rebranding changes to become more recognizable and enhance readership with it's new 32,000+ population of students and faculty. It began with the institution of an umbrella title for the organization, KSU Lifestyle, and as of September 2016, held a contest to determine the new name of the magazine, The Peak, which came into effect once the November issue was released.

AMC Parkway Pointe 15 was the name of the AMC that I worked at. Even though my title was "Film Crew Member", that spoke nothing of all that it was that I actually did. I started there working as an usher, cleaning theaters as they let out and making sure the restrooms and the lobby and trash were constantly as clean as could be. I also worked as a greeter, welcoming every guest that entered the theater and tearing their tickets and directing them to the house their movie was playing in. My other initial job was as a cashier in the "Marketplace", what they called the area where popcorn, beverages candy and specialty foods were sold. Not long after I started, I was trained on how to work in "Hot Foods" the other section of the Marketplace where all of the specialty foods were made and given to the guests that ordered them; the items on the menu ranged from nachos to tenders and fries to shakes and smoothies to pizza. After I had been working at AMC for about 6-7 months, I was finally trained on working in Box Office, and after that, I primarily worked in that position over all the others.All the while that I worked there, they made sure to utilize me wherever they needed me, because they would always have me go work in another area if they needed assistance because they knew that I was reliable and well-versed in each position of the job. Besides attaining Employee of the Month after I had only been working there for two months, I was also one of the top 5 employees of my theater that helped Parkway Pointe 15 when a cleanliness contest that corporate was having. My theater became one of the top 3 cleanest theaters in the district during that time.

My first foray into the world of fast food customer service. I worked primarily as a cashier for the front line and drive-thru and as a food packer, and occasionally as a dining room attendant and on the wrap station. I also learned how to make the biscuits and desserts and fry the chicken, but I was never placed back in the kitchen much after that; I will attribute that to them requiring my communication skills more so than my cooking skills. It was an interesting job, I met a lot of people and had many regular customers who I had grown to like. It reached the point where I could see the regular coming into the store and already have their order rang up for them before they reached the register. I also managed to make some good friends while I worked here, a couple of which I still am in contact with now.

Being a Radio DJ was a highly entertaining experience. WGHR Radio was the radio station for Southern Polytechnic State University. Originally it was broadcast via the radio waves, but had to discontinue due to the frequency being too close to another, bigger radio station. It then became a strictly online radio station that also broadcasted in the University's Student Center. Now that SPSU has merged into Kennesaw State University, WGHR Radio was dissolved in favor of KSU's Owl Radio station.I was only a DJ during the online radio time period, but I still enjoyed every minute of it. I had a radio show every Wednesday from 1:00 - 3:00PM, during which I played nonstop music for the entire duration of the show, with the only talking being at the beginning with my introduction and the end when I would close out and send out any commercial information that I was required to deliver. Occasionally I had a cohost who would add his own music into my playlist, but otherwise my show was very freeform. I didn't have a specific genre of music that I would play; at any given time, the music could range from pop to hip-hop to Japanese music to rock to electronic to game and movie soundtracks, etcetera. The only thing that was consistent was that each week, the show had a different theme for the music that would get played.
