I work on software supply chain security:- for Google within the core Privacy, Safety, and Security team- for Open Source via the OpenSSF (openssf.org) and SLSA (slsa.dev)

In May 2021 Nearby raised a $21m Series A and hired me to help productize and take national its Oakland-based local shopping pilot. I was (briefly!) responsible for devising, prioritizing, and sequencing the roadmap to support a growing two-sided e-commerce marketplace.

Led a team of >100 PMs and Engineers, responsible for building and operating a portfolio of high-value differentiating web properties — including docs.microsoft.com, azure.microsoft.com, and Microsoft Learn.

Apigee was acquired by Google in November 2016. As a "lander" from Google I manage a broad feature area of the market-leading API Management solution.

Led a team of PMs responsible for the G Suite Developer Platform: Apps Script, App Maker, G Suite Marketplace, G Suite APIs, G Suite Extensibility.

At ~200 employees and ~100 engineers, Stripe chose me as its first Product Management hire. I incubated the PM team while helping to turn Stripe’s machine learning systems into differentiating products.

Managed a team of 30 business-focused technologists in Twitter’s two key monetization areas: ads and data. I was Twitter’s first-lander in Boulder following the acquisition of Gnip, and led the consolidated field engineering group.

From the ground up, I assembled a team of ten to support Twitter’s Media Partnerships team across technology, strategy and operations. I held overall responsibility for tools & data, program management, enabling products, and a global ecosystem of >250 third parties—and served as chief of staff to the VP of Media.

Built the Partner Product Management team from scratch, and led four Partner PMs defining Twitter's product partner strategy, divining and prioritizing product needs in key verticals.Moved to Twitter Search, which served at this time 1.6 billion queries each day, more than Yahoo! and Bing combined. The challenges in this role include turning search infrastructure into a horizontal service for the rest of Twitter while simultaneously delivering user and business value in the real-time search vertical.In June 2011 I managed the launch of the largest upgrade to Twitter Search since the 2008 acquisition of Summize (coverage: TechCrunch; Search Engine Land).

Line management of a global program management team covering Google’s strategic partnerships in AdSense, Apps and software distribution, totaling >$1.5bn in annual gross revenue.Responsibilities:• technical execution, strategy and operations of Google’s largest partnerships in the mobile industry• prioritization and resource allocation across a global matrixed team of 30 partner technologists• designing and running the organization to create and sustain strategic mobile technology partnerships• smooth operation of partnerships worth >$150m annually in revenue, central to Google's mobile strategy

Product manager for the suite of developer-facing products including a large Java SDK and the Ubiquity Developer Network program. Ubiquity was a VoIP platform market leader prior to their acquisition by Avaya.Responsibilities:• delivery of Ubiquity's developer offering, including launch of the Developer Network community• providing VoIP architectural consultancy and high-touch field support to Tier 1 carrier customers• technical guidance of Ubiquity's strategic partnerships with Microsoft, IBM and Oracle• leading the technical interface with Avaya, who finally acquired Ubiquity in January 2007 for ~$144m.

Manager of the Product Innovation team at this Tier 1 telco, driving the business towards a web-centric software services platform for next generation telephony. Co-founded a small services company focused on designing, organizing and running development and innovation "offsite" events for large corporations, promoting rapid software prototyping techniques and a fast delivery culture. redpond exists today at http://redpond.co.uk and occasionally makes money.

In this start-up I managed a team of eight developers building an innovative PIM synchronization and e-commerce product based on XML and HTTP. I created the patent-pending design (http://isaa.ch/2z) and ran server-side development and operations.

DrKB was Dresdner Bank AG's Investment Banking arm. I started off there as a grunt but ended up leading the core e-commerce development team responsible for designing, building and delivering the bank's first external e-commerce portal.
