All of these experiences have contributed to my ability to be an effective coach:I spent nearly 10 years in the corporate world as a salesman and systems analyst where I gained experience and knowledge in the “internals of business” and a focus on operational efficiency as a key element of organizational success. Since that time I have been a principal and owner of two successful consulting firms. The first firm found a niche in helping large organizations implement quality improvement, productivity improvement and participative involvement systems.In 1994, I struck out on my own to focus my consulting practice on working with the automotive industry, specifically the automotive OEM’s and their suppliers. Here I developed a depth of experience with process control, process improvement, product quality, and cost reduction. In 2009, I began working in the SME market as a mentor, coach and trainer, and became a certified trainer in the FastTrac training programs of the Kauffman Foundation. I deepened my experience with business planning and business plan writing as well as financial planning, financial projection, and preparing for funding. In 2011 I joined the staff of TechTown, a Detroit based business incubator. From this position I worked with a portfolio of startup and early stage companies to develop their businesses, find funding, find people, and locate their businesses. It was here that I began to realize the importance of marketing.
