In 1989, I established MLS Homes. By 2011, MLS Homes built and sold more than 1,000 homes in St. Charles County. Focused on contemporary design and superior customer service, we built homes in twelve St. Charles County subdivisions; Bayfield Estates, Pheasant Point, Twin Chimneys, Chadwyck, Sunset Ridge, Annabrook, RoyallSprings, Hanover Crossing, Manors at RoyallSprings, Aberdeen, Villages at Bainbridge, and Crystal Creek.Design innovations brought upscale features to affordably priced homes. Examples included:• Introduction of the Atrium Ranch• Luxury Master Bathrooms• Introduction of Hearth Rooms• Neighborhood Entry FeaturesCustomer service was a constant focus. I created systems to streamline warranty procedures. Moreover, homes were built to minimize warranty issues. A process was developed where the path of least resistance was our process. The customer service program included the following points:• Educate the customer about what was, and was not covered under the warranty.• Offer customers the option to add additional coverage (at an additional cost).• Constantly reinforce the warranty exclusions.• Provide an easy-to-read document explaining the warranty coverage, with a focus on excluded items.• Proactively mail the 60-day and 1-year warranty forms.• Track the open work orders, sending updates to the customer.• Document everything.
