I believe that it is important to meld the community’s right to safe neighborhoods with the department’s efforts to reduce crime through effective enforcement and community focused programs. I believe that it is an ethical imperative of the police department to foster good community - police relations. As a leader, it is my responsibility to convey this ethos to those that I lead. I possess the ability to take the department’s goal of providing quality police service to the community and to transform them into policies, procedures, and comprehensive actions that improve the community’s quality of life. I believe that it is not enough for a leader during their tenure to have a positive impact on public safety but to leave a transformative legacy that ensures a good and sustainable relationship between the community and law enforcement. Also, I possess key training and education in criminal justice, human resources, and public administration. This experience complements my varied command experience in operations, investigations, and administration that makes me an effective commander.
