Dr Herbert Lee was trained as an engineer, and he became a chartered engineer in 1982. In 2011, Dr Lee received his Doctorate in Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and his area of specialisation was in knowledge management and semantics. In 2015, he was appointed to become a Senior Academician by the Hong Kong Institute of Asian Knowledge Management. That same year, Dr Lee assisted China’s State Administration of Radio and Television to research on the transmission standards of autostereoscopic 3D devices. In 2018, Dr Lee was appointed by the China Academy of Management Sciences to become the Executive Director of the Shenzhen Branch. Dr Lee has over 20 years of management experience in the high-tech industry. Over the years, Dr Lee has won numerous awards for outstanding scientific and technological innovations. Some of these more significant awards include: Hong Kong Awards for Industry and Commerce 2016, Hong Kong Electronics Industry Gold Award 2017, and Excellence in Science and Technology Awards – Nobel Scholars Series for Enterprise Award 2017. In 2018, Dr Lee led a team to participate in the 46th Geneva International Invention Exhibition and won the “Special Award of the Judges”. In the same year, Dr Lee also won the Grand Award for the Science and Technology Achievement Award of the Hong Kong Awards for Industry and Commerce. Under Dr Lee’s leadership, the portfolio of companies under XBE (www.xbe.com) collectively owns more than 100 registered patents and 800 authorized patents worldwide. In his latest achievement this year, he was awarded as the Honorary Fellow of the Centre for Business Sustainability of the Hong Kong Chinese University.
