- Research focused on the neuronal mediators of stress responses in C. elegans and the alternative phenotypes associated with them e.g. reduced egg laying and reduced foraging seen due to the stimulation of the ALA mechanosensory interneuron that responds to harsh picking touch used in routine plate transfer. - Graduate research took that a step further and asked the question, does the ALA mediate stress responses in C. elegans? To answer this question, I looked at other phenotypes that could be affected under stress such as foraging, when the ALA is stimulated. - Designed, developed, conducted and reviewed experiments and data to deliver applicable results, new testing methods and processes efficacy- Experimentation was successful and results showed that C.elegans reduced egg laying and foraging under stress when the ALA interneuron was present but not when ALA was absent in organisms.

- Undergrad research centered around the effectiveness of using a parasite (Habrobracon hebetor wasp) to induce population control of a common pest to post harvest grains (Indianmeal moth). - With the continual rise of consumers demanding pesticide free/ grain and legumes there have been a sharp decline of insecticide use due to the increased regulations and restrictions placed on their use. - Suppression of post-harvest pests using parasitic wasps are more viable, eco-friendly and sustainable than chemical pesticides. - Habrobracon hebetor wasps, a natural predator to the Indianmeal moth will seek out the larvae of the moth that will be located on or near the grains they wish to consume and will implant its eggs into the host, killing the larval host. The wasps have been shown to have no effect on human or food sources. It was also found that this occurred in the presence of absence of diapause, a period of suspended development in insects often used in defense when conditions may be adverse for growth. - Placed 1st at the 2014 LSAMP conference and 3rd at the 2015 Beta Kappa Chi research conference.
