I'm best known for my work in creating live, large, in-person thought leadership conferences with a focus on Northern England including the Thinking Digital Conference in Newcastle, TEDxManchester, TEDxNewcastle, TEDxLiverpool and the Bright Ideas Gathering in Durham.The core of our practice is our passion for research in innovation in all its forms across tech, digital, sciences, business, academia, the arts, etc. We pair our in-depth research with speaker coaching and speechwriting to create conference content that we believe is unusually good. 🙂For some external proof points, 10 of our speakers have gone onto either speak at the main TED Conference in Vancouver or had their talks featured on the TED.com homepage which in our world is roughly like winning an Oscar or BAFTA. Many other talks have been picked as TED Editors Choices, been featured on the TEDx Youtube channel (41m subscribers!), appeared on the TED Radio Hour podcast or invited to contribute to the TED blog. All the above a result of their collaboration with us. In addition TEDxManchester was recently promoted to TED's Legacy Tier, an invite-only license which is sort of their version of the Champions League for TEDx events as judged by the quality of our talks and our high audience NPS scores. I realise this sounds like a lot of God-awful humblebragging but my point is that I think we do good work and that at least one other organisation out there appears to agree along with our sponsors who help keep the lights on inside the big tent! 🙏Naturally we know a few things about conference production too as we have produced events as large as 2500 participants and currently averages circa 900. Outside of this I appear to have a knack at creating brand names. Perhaps my most notorious contribution was creating the brand name for Bulletproof Coffee. True story! ☕️I have previously been included in Wired Magazine's Wired 100 list as well as in the Guardian Newspaper's MediaGuardian 100. Perhaps my biggest honour though was being included in a list of Honourary Geordies by Buzzfeed. I earned my MBA from the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia and my undergraduate degree from Princeton University. I've lived in the UK since 1997 but was born in Brooklyn, NY to Korean parents. Proud father to a daughter now entering her young adult years. 🥰
