My research involves primarily the design of advanced oxidation processes and constructed wetlands for low-cost and sustainable water and wastewater treatment. I am particularly interested in the role of water components, such as organic matter and inorganic species, and sunlight in the degradation of emerging contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and industrial chemicals. These approaches have the potential to dramatically reduce the cost of water treatment and protect human health and biodiversity from hazardous chemicals that resist removal even using advanced membrane technologies such as reverse osmosis and nanofiltration.

Scholars2Scholars serves as a vital hub, connecting individuals who have benefited from educational and professional development opportunities with those yearning for similar growth.Under my leadership, Scholars2Scholars has evolved from a humble 4-member organization into a global network comprising over 6,000 passionate individuals pursuing diverse fields of study. During my tenure, we have organized more than 20 enlightening webinars, conducted a short course to bridge the gap between the academia and job market, and provided mentorship to over 600 aspirants. Notably, nearly 60 of our mentees have successfully secured fully-funded scholarships to prestigious universities and internships with renowned global companies.Our ambitious mission does not stop here. Pending the finalization of legal documentation, Scholars2Scholars is poised to lead the way in facilitating study and professional development opportunities across Southern Africa.My leadership journey at Scholars2Scholars has been marked by a commitment to empowering others, fostering growth, and creating transformative opportunities.
