Environmental Officer
Current▪ Ensure that the ship is in compliance with applicable Local, State, Regional, Federal, Port State, Flag State and International Environmental laws and regulations, as well as, applicable Company policies▪ Verify the functionality of environmental equipment/systems e.g. Oily Water Separator and Whitebox, Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWP), EGCS (Scrubbers) and arrange effluent samplings accordingly▪ Reviewing voyage planning/exemptions, recycling, reusing, repurposing and donations, chemical management, energy management/efficiencies and implementing new programs and trainings▪ Responsible for the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Program of the vessel▪ Interface with Governmental and Marine Authorities as needed for interpretations of regulations and company policies (e.g. EPA, various Coast Guards, Port Authorities, Class, Flag State, USPH)▪ Interface with Waste Vendors and Port Agents to arrange services and waste offloads▪ Ensure Environmental records are completed and provide related reports as required (ie. Oil Record Book (ORB), Garbage Record Book (GRB), Sewage and Grey Water Book, Refrigeration log, Landing Records, etc.)▪ Ensure compliance with ISM, MARPOL, NPDES and ISO14001
