A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
- Conducted research and development of new commercial electrochemical sensors for the detection of small drugs in saliva with industry partners, carrying out diverse optimization, performance testing, and characterizations, improving quality, turnaround time, costs of prototype, and reaching very low limits of detection. Brought to the team familiarity with spectroscopy characterizations (XPS, FTIR), procedures, permitting and management expertise. Participated in all facets of the project- Engaged in day-to-day training and supervision of undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. students and technicians on their respective responsibilities under appropriate GMPs and SOPs, improving the quality of the final results in the lab- Conducted a comprehensive review of existing and potential applications of novel modified Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for water remediation and electrochemical sensors. Established and monitored experiments and analyses scheduled with undergraduate students. Participated in all facets of the project and was responsible for the bi-weekly reports.- Conducted an active collaboration between BIOx Nanomaterials Research Group (McMaster University) and The National Laboratory of Science, Technology and Integrated Water Management (LNAGUA), IPN, Mexico, developing novel materials and strategies for wastewater decontamination, resulting in 5 published articles. Responsible for monthly reports with both labs and training students in scientific writing- Prepared and wrote diverse research articles to be published in JCR journals in collaboration with the research team, resulting in 8 scientific articles
Lab Technologist
Phd Student
- Conducted research on the design of a magnetic nano-platform with a dendritic structure for environmental applications under the supervision of Dr. Oscar Odio and Dr. Edilso Reguera Ruiz. My role involved the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles and dendritic structures, the modification of nanoparticles' surface with organic molecules, the heavy metal adsorption experiment (ICP), and a deep study on the possible adsorption mechanism (FTIR, XPS). Participated in all facets of the project and responsible for the final reports- Applied XPS as the main spectroscopy technique to propose the possible adsorption mechanism between the contaminant species and the magnetic nano-platform with a dendritic structure. Active participation in the sample analysis by XPS and processing XPS data employing CASA-XPS software. Prepared final reports with the XSP data for patents and article writing- Prepared diverse research articles to be published in JCR journals in collaboration with the research team, resulting in three scientist articles published and two submitted patents
Visiting Researcher
Exchange student, under the supervision of Dr. Mark Biesinger, studied the possible interaction mechanism between dendrimer-containing magnetic nanoparticles and heavy metal species removed from contaminated water by XPS. I worked in sample analysis with XPS equipment and processing XPS data employing CASA-XPS software.
Graduate Teaching Assistant And Researcher
- Implemented novel methodologies for lectures and laboratories for Radiation Chemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, Separation and Concentration Methods, Nuclear Medicine, and Research Methodology, promoting the engagement of new students in radiochemistry research projects- Executed routine preparation and quality control of Tc-99m radiopharmaceuticals for Separation and Concentration Methods Laboratories, achieving the involvement of over 20% of the students in nuclear medicine research projects and increasing the lab experience- Implemented decontamination cleaning protocols in the labs' SOP, increasing the safe environment of the students working with radioactivity- Completed pharmacokinetic and biodistribution studies of 99mTc-human serum albumin nano-colloids in mice, resulting in two presentations at scientific congresses- Supervised undergraduate and master students during the design and development of PVP nanogels and 99mTc-PVP nanogels platforms for controlled release of 5-FU, resulting in 3 publications
Masters Student
- Conducted research on the study of possible adsorption mechanisms during the removal of arsenic species from water using iron oxide nanoparticles (magnetite, hematite, and goethite) under the supervision of Dr. Oscar Odio and Dr. Edilso Reguera Ruiz. My role involved the synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles, the arsenic adsorption experiment (ICP), and a deep study on the possible adsorption mechanism (FTIR, XPS). Participated in all facets of the project and responsible for the final reports- Prepared diverse research articles to be published in JCR journals in collaboration with the research team, and one patent was submitted
