Profile bio

About Herman Adu

An enthusiastic and gregarious web and mobile developer with over 20 years' experience in IT, and a progressive work history from technical support, web design windows, web, mobile and REST API development within a single employer for 15 years. I enjoyed many learning experiences moving roles and teams as my career progressed, adapting to new technologies and methodologies as the company strategy evolved, gaining understanding of different aspects of the business through a variety of projects. An instrumental team player who shares learnings and knowledge, builds strong cross functional relationships, equally comfortable driving independent projects to closure. Taking pride in delivering high calibre results, it's been refreshing to be able to expand my capabilities beyond the constraints of my previous employer's directives, and I'm excited to be using a cutting-edge framework of technologies.Upon moving on in 2019, I wanted to be able to carry on full stack development but did not have the resources to continue with a full blow Azure DevOps setup with premium services. I took this new opportunity to research the latest trends, standards, innovations, and the world we live in today. Back full circle, I’m creating full stack applications utilising JavaScript libraries like react, with technologies including Strapi Headless CMS and GraphCMS, building REST, GraphQL, Rapid and Google API based applications, combining control and scalability of server-side rendering with the performance of static-site generation using React based frameworks like Gatsby JS and Next JS and using React Native for mobile development. A full stack developer, innovating one project-client at a time!

The Institute of Neurodiversity is a non-profit global neurodiversity member organisation. Their goal is to bring together one million neurodivergent people, and their allies, from 100 countries. After consultation, considering budget restraints and deadlines for release dates etc, my client chose Wild Apricot, an all-in-one tool for managing your memberships, email subscriptions, events registrations, donations, and your website. Managing a member database, easily setting up re-occurring payments, subscription levels, a mobile app and the CRM was the main appeal of Wild Apricot. That said, the out of the box themes were somewhat basic, thus involved extensive customisation to professionalise the look and feel for my clients' user experience requirements.Below are a few of the duties provided, not including the extensive client consultation process. We forged a trusted partnership through hours of discussion, technical advisory, research, and collaboration which enabled ION to launch within available budget and to targeted timelines.• Website Build incorporating ION branding & client specifications• Setup contact database and Administrator permissions• Subscription levels• Re-occurring Payments• Email routing and templates• Events• Blogs• Forums• Userway Accessibility Plugin• Social media access• Numerous Forms• Business Email setup• Domain Setup• Full Deployment• Mobile App Setup• Managed ServicesCustomisations:Fully customised navigation system, customised hero section for each template and professional Footer plus responsive to work across different platforms. Also available in local businessesCovid was a bad time for so many people, born from a family tradition and culture making our own pepper sauce that has been part of my family's routine from long before I was born, every party wedding, or holiday back in Ghana there was always freshly made hot pepper sauce, as part of any meal (even breakfast) in my family. Not content to sit at home during lockdown waiting for life to get back to normal my wife and I extended what we do for family and friends into a project and decided to grow our own chillies from seeds. We made new flavours and different heat levels of our products. And every chilli type has its own personality and story to tell, depicted by our graphic designed labels. The response was immense, which prompted us to start a small local family business expanding on what my late mum had done for us for so many years.Already with a few ecommerce prototypes, it wasn't long before I was building a new system to extend the business online using the following development stack.• React• JavaScript• Gatsby JS• GraphQL• Styled Components• Strapi Headless CMS• Shopify API.• Netlifyhttps://hspepper.co.uk
