In 1999, when AMP was acquired by Tyco, I purchased AMP's shares and a few months later, sold part of the company to General Electric. In 2000, Microsoft also purchased a part of our company and teamed up with us to expand our connected home initiative to include distribution of digital content. GE SMART then launched an initiative to develop IP-based technology/products for audio/video distribution and control. SMART developed and sold its products under the brand GE SMART, until 2002, when GE purchased the company and I purchased the Audio/Video assets and relocated the audio/video group to form NetStreams, in Austin, Texas. -
