In this role, I manage the operations of eight libraries in the NUS network together with a team of professional library staff and between 30 to 60 support staff. Library Operations Team manages matters covering user front-end services and back office circulation, membership and access services including after office hours operations; user spaces and facilities planning, maintenance, and management; and open stacks and high-density stacks management. As head, I provide strategic-level and ground-level personnel management planning and deployment, oversee the use of various operations and circulation software and hardware with the library IT department, ensuring the adherence to safety & health requirements, and review of processes to achieve better optimisation of resources for our customers, the department, and university.Apart from our direct and core functions, Operations team also support and/or work with the other library pillars such as our teaching & engagement arm, collections & resource management services (institutional repository, digitisation, rare materials and special collections), library administrative services, and library resource technical services unit (acquisitions and subscriptions). Support is also provided when required to our autonomous partner libraries such as Yale-NUS College Library and NUS High School Library who are dependent on our systems.

● Administrative matters related to the management of the business library :- Appointed as Acting Head of Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library from November 2016 to June 2017. Confirmed as Head from June 2017 onwards. - Oversaw personnel management issues such as deployment of staff for projects and daily operations, optimization of staff rosters in light of new user behavior patterns & manpower availability, organized shared services model for staff between three libraries, conduct performance reviews, and other personnel matters.- Introduced operational and facility improvements such as the establishment of full-self service loan facilities, creation of new collaboration zones to facilitate user needs, rolling out various internal process improvements to reduce paperwork, optimise staff availability, simplify tasks, and reduce costs. - Produced periodic management reports and contributed to policy reviews & changes- Oversee estate and facilities matters of HSSML.- Responsible for Fire Safety, Workplace Health and Safety, Business Continuity Plan compliance.● Library professional services :- Conducted collection development work and reviews for library print and electronic resources for the fields of Business studies- Conducted information literacy programmes and outreach activities such as tours and orientation activities- Organised and/or delegated the above tasks with the Business resource team members

Central Library, Research & Information Services Dept● 2008 – 2016 : Conducted library literacy classes to NUS staff and students, especially in the fields of Political Science & History, other social science areas; and orientation sessions for new staff & students. Conducted collection development work for library print and electronic resources in the Singapore-Malaysia Collection, Political Science, and History including use of colonial office records.● 2010 – 2015 : Conducted workshops and provided follow-up support in the use of citation management and referencing software especially EndNote. I headed the EndNote team from 2013 to 2015. ● 2008 – 2016 : Provided information, reference, and advisory services via telephone, email, desk and chat channels, comprising subject-related and administrative queries related to library use, facilities, resources, and services.● 2010 – 2015 : Participated, organised & led, or mentored in outreach activities such as library tours, orientation programmes for new staff and students, student societies’ orientation games, and roadshows such as the annual E-Resource Discovery Day-cum-Booksale Fundraising.● 2010 – 2017 : Member of the library portal teams handling tasks related to user feedback and input gathering (focus groups, surveys, student projects, etc.), designing, placement & evaluation of quotes, vendor selection and liaising, overseeing delivery and testing of product, post-production maintenance, user support and troubleshooting, content updating, creation, and management, and ad-hoc enhancement projects. I headed the team from 2011 to 2017.● 2010 – 2015 : Member of the library Dashboarding project team responsible for identifying & creation of relevant KPIs, visualization, selection & evaluation of dashboarding software, and managing a business process in its data collection procedures for seven libraries and units.
