Have done some coordinate transformation projects of disparate CAD sources to merge correctly with current transformation system of client.Work as part of a team of Subject Matter Experts in Business Process Optimisation in the mining industry. Provide in-depth system QA, SQL and technology support to Minfo Technologies.Provided System Analysis and Development services on extensions of the Gautrans Fleet Management System for GESS on behalf of the Department of Public Transport.

I was responsible for the administration of the Gautrans Fleet Management System’s database on behalf of the Department of Public Transport Roads and Works. Tasks included database and query optimisation, integration module design and implementation, system migration to a Hyper-V virtual environment and running the financial Month-End batch. Issue troubleshooting (software, network and hardware), data audits and SQL support to development team members forms part of my daily tasks at GESS.I was the development team leader for the development of a Mining Production Information System as part of a Joint Venture with Tomahee Consulting Services. This includes report delivery using SQL Server's Reporting Services. Tasks included code releases and server management on the client’s site via Remote Network Access on the Anglo Coal global network.Other projects included the management of a 3D modeling projects for Eskom and BHP Billiton. The projects focused on modeling as-built structures of the power stations and/or plants with a focus on major equipment and electrical cable raceways. My exposure to the building and structural environment during architectural studies at the University of Pretoria enabled me to do quality assurance for these projects.

As an independent contractor I’ve been involved in various system development and ETL projects. My services included network and system support, data integration analysis, database and server administration, NT Group Policy logon script development, graphic design, news letter creation and public website development.Africon remained a major client during this time. For Africon I coordinated and managed system development with a team of individual contractors whilst being involved in most of the work as done when employed full-time.

Being a large company, keeping track of employees and related information is of utmost importance to efficiently manage all the aspects of the company.Leading a team of developers, I was responsible for the development of intranet based systems. The systems are mostly custom built to the needs of the HR and financial departments. The systems are used to ensure the automation of existing and new business systems or rules.Apart from the intranet based systems, I made extensive use of distributed transactions and queries in Microsoft SQL Server to provide information on a daily basis from the centralised HR database to several management systems used throughout the company which included the corporate ERP system.The integration of information between the HR and salary systems and the ERP system was the most important part of my responsibilities. With Africon being a multi-country and multi-currency company, I had to ensure that the rates used on projects were correct for each employee on a daily basis. Each rate change was audited and history thereof kept indefinitely. Dumps of audit data was made on a monthly basis to kept the audit tables below 3GB each.I formed part of the DBA team responsible for the support and proper functioning of the ERP system’s base database as well as the data mart hosted on separate servers. This was performed for both production and pilot environments. Custom ETL processes were implemented between the base ERP database and the data mart to run on a daily basis.
