Wind Power - Research AssistantAs a research assistant for the University of Alberta, I conducted a wind study focused on evaluating the potential to harvest energy in urban environments based on research that suggested an increase in wind speed at the edge of buildings. As part of the study, I analyzed the turbulent intensity around the edge area to determine recirculation and wind regimes that are detrimental to power production. Part of the data acquisition was used to validate CFD models developed by the research group to create a wind map around campus.During this experience, I designed and built a customized meteorological data acquisition system that saved approximately 23% in equipment cost for a 2-year project budget, and co-authored an article in Springer Publishing titled “A Review of Wind Energy Resource Assessment in the Urban Environment”.Engineering - Teaching Assistant (TA)Engineering Physics (EN PH 131) / Internal Combustion Engines (MECE 541)As a teaching assistant, I instructed and led full seminar classes for 120 undergrad students, improving public speaking while sharing technical knowledge and basic engineering principles with students.
