Hermes is the Head of International and leads the Latin American practice at DAC Beachcroft. He handles disputes on behalf of leading international reinsurers and commercial organisations on high profile contentious and non-contentious matters worldwide, having represented clients in more than fifty-six countries. Hermes is one of the acknowledged leading experts on multijurisdictional matters and has particular expertise in Latin American, Mediterranean Basin and Far Eastern matters, especially in supervising litigation concerning FI, Liability, Property/Engineering and Global Energy. Hermes also advises on regulatory matters and the development of financial products in many jurisdictions.In Latin America, he has been involved in complex contracts and claims on energy, engineering, public utilities, FI etc, in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay, Uruguay, Colombia and others. In Europe and the US he has been involved in major issues on WTC, Katrina and other aggregation issues as well as European floods and engineering disputes. In the Middle East and Africa on war related energy and oil as well as commercial contracts. Similarly in the Middle East and Far East numerous product liability, infrastructure and P&C reinsurances and treaties.He has drafted and advised governmental and regulatory bodies on reinsurance wordings including on claims handling procedures and clauses, following obligations and political violence and leader obligations.He is fluent in seven languages including Spanish and Portuguese and is also recognised expert on political and credit, investments risks including war and terrorism and lectures and publishes worldwide.Hermes is co-author of a leading textbook on Reinsurance Law as well as specialist treatise on "War Risks and Terrorism". He is also regular contributor to national and insurance press and a counsel member of IIL.
