Eva brings over two decades of experience in the US environmental movement to the table. Throughout her career, she has served as an organizer, campaigner, strategist, and leader at renowned organizations like Sierra Club, MoveOn, Dogwood Alliance, and GreenCorps. Currently as Executive Director at Mosaic, Eva Hernandez oversees the organization as a whole - including the transformative investments which foster collaboration across silos, elevate underrepresented voices, and build bridges to new constituencies, a powerful antidote to divisiveness and polarization.Prior to leading Mosaic, Eva held the position of Managing Director at the Sierra Club, the oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization in the US. At the national level, she played a key role in the Executive leadership team, building people power to protect communities and the planet.Eva spearheaded significant organizational transformation at the Sierra Club. Recognizing its 130-year history, she led & implemented change management processes to modernize the institution. This involved creating a more rigorous, equitable, and impactful foundation – encompassing systems, structures, culture, and results.Eva's passion extends beyond individual organizations. She serves as an adjunct coach with The Management Center, empowering social justice leaders across the US to build and manage equitable, sustainable, and results-driven organizations. This commitment emphasizes her dedication to a more powerful and diverse environmental and social justice movement.Eva has served on the boards of numerous environmental and social change organizations over the years, including Building Equity & Alignment Initiative - BEA, Environment Texas and Undoing Racism Austin. She currently serves with GoAustin/Vamos Austin (GAVA) & Friends of the Earth US. Her recent work on the BEA participatory grants awards committee exemplifies her belief in the power of collaboration. Here, she worked across sectors to allocate millions of dollars to grassroots groups through a participatory process.When it's time to recharge, Eva reconnects with nature. Whether it's exploring the Texas Hill Country or seeking tranquility in the swimming holes near her Austin, TX base, nature provides her with the energy to continue her important work.
