His Capstone project with the Contra Costa Environmental Health Department was a pivotal moment in his academic career, enhancing his leadership, communication, and project management skills.In his role as Energy Democracy Organizer, Hernando leads the Hayward Equitable Electrification outreach team, where he oversees a group of six CSU East Bay students in their efforts to engage and educate the Latino community in Hayward about the City’s electrification plans. His work extends beyond Hayward, as he conducts bilingual workshops on energy and electrification for diverse communities across the Bay Area.
