BLOC has interests in commercial real estate development and investment, construction, and professional services. He has an extensive background within the commercial real estate and infrastructure development industries, and takes pride in a career of successfully managing the completion of complex public finance, project finance, infrastructure, master development, site selection, and managed service projects for clients across public, private, and philanthropic sectors. Currently leading the firms Growth Through Focus initiative, Herschell brings his considerable strategic management expertise to bear on ongoing operations, capability improvement, and implementation of the organizations goals across the platform. He also leads client engagement and business development efforts for the company offices in Birmingham, AL, and Washington, D.C. Herschell brings deeply rooted knowledge and insight to the table. Prior to becoming the Chief Executive Officer of BLOC, he was Vice President of New Market Ventures for private equity firm MRG, co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of a web-based new media/technology company, spent a decade as an investment banker with Raymond James Financial and Porter White and Company. Herschell also worked as Chief Administrative Assistant to Birmingham Mayor Richard Arrington, Jr., serving as chief advisor on matters of finance, economic development, and capital projects; and as Executive Assistant to the Finance Director of the State of Alabama, coordinating and managing the issuance of approximately $1 billion in tax-exempt bonds by State Boards and Authorities.
