Staff Nurse
•Receive endorsement from outgoing staff and endorse to incoming staff.•Assessment of newly admitted patients in the unit.•Carry out doctor's order.•Admit and discharge patients.•Prepare patients physically and evaluate their knowledge of the scheduled procedure.•Close monitoring of the critically ill patients.•Encourage early ambulation post- op with assistance if needed.•Inserting the IV line and other contraptions such as foley catheter according to the hospital policy and procedure. •Assessment of incision site and change dressing as often as needed.•Administer prescribed medication and transfuse blood and blood products as ordered by the doctor. Secure consent before blood transfusion.•Collect specimen and sent to the laboratory for investigation and refer result to the doctor when needed.•Obtain routine medicine from the pharmacy for the next shift.•Document care rendered to the patient and their response to the treatment using FDAR method.•Monitor and record the patient's vital signs, intake and output, CBG and LOC.•Attend to patient's needs and other concerns and observe their rights accordingly.•Collaborate with the other health care worker to provide optimum level of care.•Provide health education and discharge instructions for the patient and family member and reiterate the importance of full compliance to treatment before sending home.•Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the unit.
