The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society cares for numerous blood cancer patient across the country. LLS conducts research for a cure for blood cancers, advocate for these types of patients, and offers support. At this internship, I had the opportunity to work with the patient and community outreach(PCO) team and aid in outreaching to blood cancer patient by:• Contacting new patients and introducing the first contact program.• Contacting patients for LLS information events.• Creating a volunteer onboarding guide for PCO volunteers.• Working directly under PCO manager and helping team management.

It is also a member of the Saint Peter's Healthcare System, which is a non-profit, acute care facility sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen, New Jersey. • Managed phone calls from other departments, hospitals, physicians, and in-house nurses by transferring and preparing messages when not available to assist in communication • Entered written and verbal orders administered by nurses and physician through Paragon to keep organized medical records for patients • Assisted nurses and technicians by running errands and answering call bells to manage a safe and satisfying time in the unit • Handled and updated room numbers for nurses, transporters, physicians, and other employees by controlling Bed Census to manage the exact time and location of each patient• Organized the patients’ room numbers, nurses’ names, residents’ names, and on-call phone numbers on the white board by updating every morning with the assignments given by the charge nurse to keep communication between employees.
