•Research regarding the generation of risk measures for estimation and prognosis of State-of-Charge on Li-Ion batteries. •By combining a State-of-Charge estimation and prognosis with theoretical elements from economical risk measure theory, a novel risk measure was developed, that can be utilised for real time decision making regarding Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimations.
