Over the past few months working at Phos Painting I have had the opportunity to develop my leadership and communication skills. In a recent jobsite our company took on I was tasked with joining the business manager to meet a client and walk through the jobsite to determine the scope of work for our team. After completing the walkthrough I was able to document the work to be complete and communicate with the rest of our team to ensure all the work was completed. I have also had the opportunity to train two new employees. This challenged me to grow in my communication and leadership skill. Through this experience I learned how to show others skills in the trade, and provide feedback on work they completed. I applied strategies like depersonalizing mistakes and talking about specific issues so that others would not feel attacked and have clear steps to improve.
