Enabled “gut” renovation of one hundred year old single room occupancy building, providing supportive housing for 200 formally homeless tenants. Relocated one-third of the tenants for each of three construction phases, while keeping the remaining two thirds of the building fully occupied.• Developed strategies to allow construction by empting each third of the property in a manner sanctioned by municipal and federal agencies.• Planned, budgeted and structured all aspects of the relocation project.• Managed interaction with attorneys, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), housing companies and other Supportive Housing providers.• Researched, sought out and targeted temporary housing for each resident. • Persuaded property owners to provide alternate interim housing for the tenants. • Worked with this vulnerable tenant population to enlist each individual’s cooperation with this hugely disruptive process while calming their fears and ensuring their rights and their dignity.• Negotiated terms of all leases, licenses and guarantees.
