As a software engineer in Humana's Digital Experience Center (DEC) I work with a great team to deliver great software products to Humana's members. As engineers in the DEC we practice agile extreme programming to build minimally viable products to deliver products that can be tested with actual members to ensure the software we're building meets actual member needs.When it comes to technology we try not to pick favorites - instead we focus on choosing the right technology for the problem at hand.

I am a technical architect, working on Humana's digital platform. I have a wide range of responsibilities including ALM, DevOps, and performance.I'm currently leading an effort to update Humana's cache layer from App Fabric to an in-memory data grid solution. I'm also working on changes that can be made to Humana's digital properties in order to leverage cloud technologies to dynamically scale to meet current demand.I also partner with other organizations in Humana to automate the delivery pipeline for Humana digital applications.

I'm an architect working on Humana's Digital Platform, specifically focused on Humana's use of Sitecore as our web content management system.I provide architecture for Sitecore upgrades, and the touchpoints Humana's digital platform has with Sitecore.In late February, early March I led the team that upgraded Humana's digital platform to version 6.6.0 Service Pack 1.

I'm responsible for the front-end architecture on the new Humana.com that was recently ranked the best prepared for health insurance shoppers by Forrester. The new Humana.com was also recently acknowledged as one of 6 Fortune 100 companies to meet all of Google's requirements for mobile sites. Finally, we just won Sitecore Site of the Year for building the new Humana.com on Sitecore's CMS.I set the technical direction of the front-end team and determine the overall front-end approach. I also work with business stakeholders to analyze business requirements and decide how to best use technology to meet requirements and ultimately provide business value.

March 2012 I started working on the IDE project to integrate all of Humana's web properties. Started working with a front-end team to create HTML markup, CSS styles using Less CSS, and JavaScript for the project.In June I took over as the lead front-end developer working on the portion of the member portal dedicated to HumanaVitality.

Completely re-designed and re-developed company websites to run on the Magento platform. Oversee adding new products to websites and maintain company websites. Also, maintain the companies social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

Maintained client websites as well as worked on new client websites. Developed front end solutions in JavaScript using jQuery for client sites. Maintained client sites running on a variety of platforms including, Wordpress, Drupal and Sitefinity

I was responsible for maintaining and designing webpages for the office of eUreKa! at the University. I also wrote web applications for the department that depended on server technology such as PHP and MySQL. I handled precious student data such as social security numbers, so security was always first and foremost.
