As a freelance ecologist I am able to offer all the project management, ecological survey and environmental assessment skills I have gained over my career to date. I work with homeowners, architects, planners, landowners and developers on the ecological requirements for planning applications. Through collaborative working I work closely with my clients to ensure that developments are designed which are able to support ecology as a whole, including human and wildlife. This is achieved through the supply of species surveys for protected and notable species as well as formal assessment such as PEA, EcIA and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations.

As Principal ecologist at Prime, I was responsible for the management of the Cambridge office and the small team in this area. I worked towards expanding the business and client base within the south east.

A senior ecologist at Prime Environment, a family run consultancy providing ecological services to the housing, retail, care, transport, culture and energy sectors. I delivered services to the client base in the south east, providing expert advice and ecological solutions for planning applications, proposed developments, BREEAM and conservation of wildlife.

As an ecologist within the Ecology Team in Cambridge I was responsible for:• Survey management of bat surveys for the northern section of the HS2 project involving the co-ordination of surveys, data management, survey planning and reporting for the project.• Management of ecological surveys for Skanska on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council. Small ecological surveys for the assessment of local highways management projects, role includes management of budgets, organisation of surveys and producing reports for the client.• Undertaking habitat and species surveys for projects seeking planning permission which includes submission of Ecological Environmental Impact Assessments (EcIA)• Clerk of works – Supervision of contractors undertaking vegetation clearance for small development projects, highways schemes or national rail improvement works.• Species surveys – assist and undertake specific surveys for protected species including bats, badgers, water vole, otters and Great Crested Newts.

Phase 1 Surveys Coordinator - HS2I was the survey coordinator for Phase 1 surveys along the proposed northern section of the HS2 rail scheme. The position involved:- Programming a schedule of surveys each week involving numerous sub-consultants- Liaising with land access team, landowners and sub-consultants to ensure access goes ahead- Resolving any issues that may arise due problems with access- Supplying sub-consultants with all correct equipment and proforma required to ensure methodology is followed correctly- Assist as a second on surveys- Chase and collate data recorded each week to ensure up to date results are available for ES reporting- Work with the GIS team to build GIS database that allows data to be presented visuallyAir Quality ConsultantFor 8 years I was a senior consultant within the air quality team of Atkins for which I was responsible for management of air quality monitoring surveys. As part of my role I undertook the following tasks:• Advise potential clients on the appropriate monitoring techniques for their projects• Undertake on-site evaluations to establish baseline conditions and identify suitable monitoring locations• Set up, manage and administrate monitoring surveys using both passive and automated techniques• Lead a team of technicians in conducting routine tasks including sample collection, data download and equipment maintenance in accordance with strict quality assurance procedure• Order equipment• Liaise with quality assured laboratories to obtain sample analysis• Analysis and manipulation of monitoring results data • Produce written reports for clients detailing survey methods, analysis and results, including recommendation for further assessment, monitoring or mitigation• Responsible for managing budgets and invoicing clients
