Licensed by the Engineering Council (UK), IFE upholds professional standards within all public and private fire sectors by offering assessment of knowledge, experience and development and engages with major stakeholders to offer international conferences, identify and promote good practice and enhance technical networks worldwide.The Institution provides professional recognition for members across a broad spectrum and has achieved recognition from a number of professional bodies including Ofqual. Under its ECUK licence, the Institution is authorized to register suitably qualified members as Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Engineering Technicians (Eng Tech).

The Institution of Fire Engineers is an International professional Institution with 42 branches globally. Each of the Branches is headed by a branch president with the The International President representing the Institution. International President is the ambassador of the Institution and during his term, he will visit branches promoting the Institution as part of brand strategy and promote Fire Engineering to the local community. His visit will assist in lifting the profile of the local branch and motivate branch development. He is an important linkage between the Institution and members of the Institution around the world.

The Institution of Fire Engineers Asia Pacific Region Forum (IFE APAC) is set up to promote fire safety engineering in this fast growing region. As the IP Honorary Secretary, my job is organized and bring together all IFE branches within APAC to deliberate issues on fire safety, to share our common problems and to learn from each member country's experience. This Forum and platform will also encourage and create fire safety public awareness, engage member participation, established contact and work with all stake holders especially the Authority Having Jurisdiction and raise the profile of all IFE branches in this region
