Within the Ohio University Sports Administration program our biggest community outreach initiative is Race For A Reason. The race consists of a 5K, 3K, Triathlon, Duathlon, Kids Splash and Dash, Mud Run, and Remote Race. The race is built so that participants can fund raise for over 100 different reasons (nonprofits). In my first year as the Assistant Director for the race my role consisted of focusing on community outreach initiatives, grass roots marketing, connecting to different community groups to grow our reasons list and secure new participants. I also worked with data analytics to determine previous years funds and participation.Now as the Director my responsibilities will grow into directing a committee focused on planning and executing the race. I will also focus on growing past and new sponsorship relationships as well as executing activation's. My goals for this year will be to improve the sign up and digital information platforms, improving participant numbers, and developing our remote race to be applicable to every race depending on the COVID situation.

Working for The First Tee of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky has had an amazing impact on my professional and personal growth. When I started with TFTGCNKY I had very little golf, coaching, and nonprofit experience. I was immediately immersed in the culture and helped to rebuild an amazing opportunity for the youth of Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. In my first few months in the internship role I focused heavily on coaching and volunteering in Life Skills Classes. This role gave me one on one interactions with participants, relationship building with parents and coaches, and organizational skills to build lesson plans/execute class communications. As the summer progressed I moved into a new role with the organization as the Development and Operations Assistant.This position focused on growing our programming into surrounding schools and community centers. It facilitated new partnerships with Boys and Girls Clubs, Girl Scouts, Special Olympics, and ELS for Autism. It led me to grow our volunteer and Young Professionals group by creating new events to grow the culture. Another focus was fundraising and receipting to partners and donors that were both long time supporters and first time givers.Now back with the organization as a Site Administrator my main focus is to safely conduct classes to reduce the potential impact of COVID. I also look to continue to grow participant numbers through creative engagement activities. It really opened my perspective and grew my interest in community outreach within the sports industry.

During my time as a member of the Chillicothe Paints family, I was really able to gain many diverse experiences that has allowed me to develop into a Sports Industry Utility Player. When I came on as a Game day and Operations Intern in 2015, my role consisted of executing on-field promotions, mascot appearances, merchandise sales, and assisting in ancillary event group ticket sales. In my next season I became very focused on stadium events and operations themselves. This led to me coming back to the organization as the Stadium Operations Manager. My role absorbed my intern duties as well as maintenance and stadium improvements, becoming a liason for our internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating sponsorship activation for NAIA, NCAC tournaments, and Prospect League events.In my final season I was fortunate enough to be asked to return as the Assistant General Manager. This moved me into an administrative role, once again absorbing my roles from the previous seasons. While in this position I became an intern and staff manager, stepped into a ticket sales role, and managed all player, coach, host parent, and community relations.

One of my favorite experiences during undergrad working with individuals of different colleges to execute this event. My role was to create, implement, and adapt different grass roots and digital media strategies to sell student designated tickets. Throughout this process my team of interns was able to triple our social media following on Facebook and Twitter. We were also able to launch a very interactive Instagram account that was instrumental in contests and a 40 person FIFA Tournament. This event was a major success as we were able to generate enough revenue to rent a bus and leave funds for the next team. In total we sold over 250 tickets, with the previous team only selling 50.
