About Heather Holliday, Ms, Shrm-Scp
As a lover of strategic HR, business management, and employee development, I am a proud member of Berkeley Lab’s HR department. In addition, I own my own consulting firm where I help businesses who are flummoxed by HR navigate the muddy waters of being an employer in the state of California. As a Consultant I have partnered with over 50 organizations throughout the Bay Area to establish an overall organizational structure that connects the two sides of strategic planning – business and resources. As a business owner, I understand the idiosyncrasies of ownership. How do you balance being a profitable business while being a great employer? The answer is strategic planning. My approach to strategic planning is simple: understand the foundations of HR, develop business objectives, create a communication plan, and finally assess current resources, whether monetary or human, to ensure that set goals are achievable, and if not, clarify what needs are present. While strategic planning is one of my passions, I also am driven to help organizations that are new to the employment arena. As a consultant, I have helped numerous organizations create HR policies and practices to help build a foundation that supports burgeoning employers.
