This involved: • Regular close liaison with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers, from proposal through design and development to product deliveries. • Managing geographically diverse resources, located in different countries/continents. • Facilitating good communications between all stakeholders, resolving issues and removing any impediments preventing progress towards deliveries. • Delivered at pace to ensure targets met. Examples include, after a last-minute customer change, the entire UK R&D department was re-structured to produce 100 beta prototypes within 2 weeks to maintain their approval schedule. Much kudos and repeat business!

Key achievements were: • Response to customers’ invitation to tender (ITT) and obtaining business case approval, ensuring requirements were achievable, deliverable and cost-effective. • Management of product deliveries across all functions. This includes resource planning, market readiness, handbooks, training and product support for end user roll-out and systems integration. • Regular cross-functional team leadership to ensure timescales and milestones are met. This was achieved with a mix of agile and traditional management techniques and resulted in smooth transitions to manufacture with type approvals (CE/e marking) and automated test jigs and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as required. As well as the technical challenges, experience of lean methodologies (such as Kaizen and Kanban) was gained and a Total Quality Environmental Management (TQEM) system was introduced.

A broad portfolio of products was managed (developments £2M+) from initial prototype designs to manufacture either on-site or in facilities in China and Hungary. • Managed the OEM technical interface, facilitating the resolution of any customer issues. • Identifying and implementing cost-effective methods resulted in substantial investment in die-cast tooling, which when amortised over the volume production saved over £200k. • Working with supply chain management to reduce Bill of Material (BOM) costs. Several expensive integrated circuits were ‘designed out’ with no detriment to performance.
