A coalition uniting and empowering Mississippi nonprofits with shared policy goals and objectives to develop strategies and winning advocacy campaigns that further advance their mission.

The Mississippi Black Leadership Institute (MBLI) is a community of scholars, elected officials, business leaders, and community organizers working together to exchange information, provide support, and provide access to other local professionals and political leaders to produce progressive change. MBLI is the brainchild of Congressman Bennie G. Thompson and former Executive Director Derrick Johnson, who is committed to developing community and political leaders from progressive communities across the state of Mississippi. The Institute offers a professional leadership development immersion, which is facilitated by One Voice Mississippi, Incorporated. They believe that a collective vision can be achieved by cultivating emerging leaders through a common bond of unity, excellence, and a commitment to transform Mississippi.

The Glenda Glover Leadership Institute is a first-of-its-kind opportunity designed to transform the personal and professional leadership capabilities of South Eastern sorors. This groundbreaking Institute for our Region will magnify the strengths of sorors through exclusive programs and workshops that deepen their understanding of leadership, not only within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ® but also, to aid in their professional development.

The Mississippi Women in the Lead program, co-sponsored by The Women’s Foundation ofMississippi’s Women’s Policy Institute, the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable’s BlackWomen’s Leadership Institute, and One Voice of Mississippi’s Mississippi Black LeadershipInstitute, is a leadership program designed to help Mississippi women navigate the challenges ofrunning for elected office and prepare them to become effective public policy advocates. Theprogram will help participants become well-equipped to run for elected office and championprogressive and equitable public policies that impact the lives of women and most vulnerablepopulations in our state. By bringing individuals who may experience gender and/or race-baseddiscrimination into the policy process, MWL will support leaders who will advance a policyagenda that is responsive to the needs of Mississippi’s women, girls, and vulnerable populations.

The National Women’s Health Network (NWHN), based in Washington, D.C., launched the Health Equity & Access Leadership Training Hub (The HEALTH Program) in January of 2023. The HEALTH Program is a six-month curriculum designed to empower community reproductive justice organizations so that these groups can better:- Address health inequities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities- Advance reproductive justice priorities in federal legislation and rulemaking- Expand health care access through policy and advocacy- Improve health outcomes for women across the life continuumThe HEALTH Program’s cohort organizations participate in a learning community where they receive professional development, mentorship and funding from the NWHN, including:- $15,000 in unrestricted grant monies for their participation in the program- Professional development from preeminent reproductive justice experts in congruent fields- Bi-weekly trainings on topics like translating practice to policy, federal advocacy, strategic planning, marketing/communications, and sustainable development- Exclusive participation in an NWHN-organized and led Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill

Each year, NJJN welcomes a diverse class of advocates and organizers of color, with demonstrated leadership acumen, to continue their advocacy efforts to bring broad, positive change to juvenile justice systems as Youth Justice Leadership Institute fellows. During the year-long fellowship, fellows gain deeper knowledge about juvenile justice system structures and trends, learn about effective advocacy and organizing techniques, and are mentored by advocates who are advancing meaningful system reforms.

Rise Up partnered with the Packard Foundation to launch the Youth Champions Initiative – an exciting initiative to advance innovation and quality in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights globally, more specifically Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, and the U.S. South. The Youth Champions Initiative (YCI) invests in visionary young champions who will lead the sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ) movement for the next generation.
