About Jonathan Souza

I have 14 years of SDET and six years of Windows System Admin/DevOps experience across media applications, internet browsers/web pages, SOAP/REST APIs, touch UI's, Windows SDK/APIs, search, drivers and physical devices such as mobile, server hardware, and ultrasound machines. The last two years I have written system test and Selenium UI framework automation supporting The Microsoft Botframework teamI am a proponent of David Allen's, "Getting Things Done". I seek win-win solutions and follow Dale Carnegie's Golden Rules for Success which I learned from an in-depth course on "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Building relationships and communication is critical. I need to communicate negative product quality, process improvement, and omissions. I strive to prevent defensiveness by building relationships and using positive language. I value making our team shine over personal accolades.

Listed skills include C#, .Net, Scrum, Distributed Systems, and 42 others.

Sr It Systems Test Engineer

Mayfield Village, Oh, Us

I spent nearly all my time refactoring and improving the page object test harness or automating Gherkin/Cucumber “Give - When - Then” BDD use case scenarios into regression automation using SpecFlow & Deveroom in C# and VS 2020 Enterprise in support of the software used by agents to sell policies. I interacted with and held BDD refinement meetings with a Product Owner who coordinated the work between the Automation, Developer, and Manual QA teams. During weekly refinement meetings we would do a version of planning poker while deciding on the basics of how best to code an issue and where that test should live – UI, system, or unit. If necessary, we would push back on business requirements based off the value/testability/complexity of automating it.The Automation team was a sub-group of the Development team not the Test team. The Automation team and Development team would fail or succeeded to hit sprint goals together. The test harnesses used production dev libraries and thus built along with the dev code. Code Reviews (Pull requests in the Git world) required two person approvals and code quality standards were the same. There wasn’t any “test team code”.UI automation was driven by an open-source Selenium\WebDriver wrapper called Atata. The test suite was hosted as part of an Azure/ADO build process and executed on a nightly basis. Tests were data driven using Gherkin Example tags and tabular information. We used attributes to modify whether a test should be executed as a UI test, as a system HTTP API (Flurl) or a hybrid approach. We used a variety of automation styles for input data including JSON templates and a class-based system. Many tests interacted with a database (T-SQL).I was on-call to triage automation failures alongside a manual QA and a Developer. We would write bugs or fix issues on the spot depending on complexity and severity.During my time, the Automation Team of 4 increased the number of nightly automated tests from ~700 to ~ 2800.

Senior System Engineer, At&T Ecommerce Digital Experience

Dallas, Tx, Us

Professional Reference: Andrew Pate Senior System Engineer Lead (My Lead)I changed titles when the AT&T video bill project shipped.I managed the end-to-end servicing of hundreds of production servers and their applications and software deployments across 4 data centers. This means I needed to be constantly balancing administrative duties with the business realities of external teams reliant on those servers.I implemented task based service schedules, monitoring using Nagios and iLom/iLo hardware that sync'd with daily work, WSUS and SCCM patch schedules. I approved patches and applied them according to industry best practices. I maintained and deployed bare metal and VMWare servers. I even did several (P2V) physical to virtual transitions. I created a Jira form for gathering hardware requirements such as not to waste resources, timelines when the "server" library resource needed to be reclaimed and to act as an EULA by defining the minimum of expected support to avoid conflicts.I was expected to do every Windows System Administration task that was needed. I created two domains in 2 different airtight data centers and was an admin over an AD Node on AT&T's global domain. I was responsible for all manner of user, computer, and group accounts and maintained user access to internal resources by managing remote desktop dual-honed hop boxes.I spent 3 years transitioning our local team support structure into the global AT&T support structure. I became a security tool, compliance, and disaster relief SME. I had PM organizational tasks where I needed to divy up work into stories and tasks such that my team could hit deadlines and I could report progress. I attended many external online meetings simply to leverage other transitioning teams difficulties and to provide guidance with overcoming difficulties of my own discovery.During this time I was Tier 3- 24/7/365 production website support.

Business Analyst, At&T Ecommerce Mobile

Dallas, Tx, Us

Professional Reference: Benjamin Sherry Senior Technical Director (Hiring Manager)I was the liaison between our hardware DevOps IT team, external AT&T test and development teams and a third-party software development company in Israel for the video bill project. It was my responsibility to organize the deployment of daily builds onto hardware that my team owned. During this time I created a pre-deployment test environment, implemented a Git artifact repository to enforce good build practices, the ability to roll-back, the ability to perform defect tracking to the offending software changes, and in the automating of deployments in three data centers. My work on the Video Bill project was lauded by upper management, and I provided the CTO a custom example video to use in a presentation. When I am not actively taking part as a test\deploy consultant, I help in the maintenance of the hundreds of machines.*Active Directory*VM Ware*Physical repair and setup.*Scripting and writing services that automate easy tasks.Nagios Server Monitoring AdministrationFinally, I also have introduced the team to a Scrum-lite task system which I managed and rolled up status reports for the team to upper management.During this time I was Tier 3- 24/7/365 production support.
