I am working at the Medical ICU of this state-of-the-art ISO 9001 and UKAS Certified tertiary care hospital which provides premium Healthcare services to the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Under the supervision of two highly qualified consultants who both have MRCP (UK) and FRCP (UK), currently, I am being trained and I am learning various protocols of the ICU care and a number of critical care procedures such as CVP lines, arterial lines for ABGs and BP monitoring, applying CPAP and BIPAP, anaesthetizing and sedating patients, Endotracheal intubation and its care, tracheostomy and its care, lumbar puncture and operating bedside Monitors and Ventilators on different modes. Being in the medical ICU, I'm a part of the Team CODE BLUE and actively respond to cardiac arrests and other medical emergencies inside the hospital premises and participate in their resuscitations. I perform ultrasound guided pleural tap and ascitic tap under supervision as well as lumbar puncture for CSF collection. I know how to intubate (under supervision) and provide post intubation management, pass CVP lines and post CVP management, put patients on BIPAP, CPAP, Ventilator, prescribe necessary medication (under supervision) to patients in the ICU Care and order important and relevant investigations. I prepare bed cases and present to the consultants in morning rounds and make sure their management plans are implemented. I do all the necessary documentation related to patients on the HMIS on daily basis including daily consultant notes, daily progress notes, family counseling, and other important events.
