The Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party stands as the largest Filipino multi-block festival in BC. Taking place in South Vancouver's Sunset Neighbourhood, serving as a vibrant celebration of Filipino arts, culture, and music. With an inaugural attendance of over 60,000.This event honours the legacy of LapuLapu, the revered Indigenous chieftain and first national hero of the Philippines, known for his pivotal victory in the Battle of Mactan, which delayed Spanish colonization. Attendees can immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of performances, exhibitions, vendors and culinary delights, all while commemorating the enduring spirit of Filipino resilience and resistance throughout history.

A determined group of women started Battered Women's Support Services in 1979. Over the years, BWSS has grown into a strong & dynamic organization. We continue to provide support & advocacy for women who have experienced abuse, as well as, training & education about violence against women.

Ally helps survivors of human trafficking find healing and work towards healthy, independent futures through safe homes, education and job training in Asia and Canada_Every survivor of human trafficking deserves to experience healing and opportunity. But without access to long-term aftercare, survivors struggle to heal from their trauma and work towards a healthy, independent future. At Ally, we work to prevent trafficking and restore survivors of abuse through local partners in Nepal, Laos, Cambodia and Canada. Our dedicated local partners have helped over 600 women and children find healing through safe homes, education and job training.Safe Homes: Our safe homes provide a supportive environment for children to heal from trauma, receive counselling and build healthy relationships with others. With a focus on long-term aftercare, many of the individuals in our homes receive care for 8-10 years.Reintegration: We encourage young adults to pursue their dreams and build independent lives through post-secondary scholarships, job training and transitional housing support.Prevention: Our prevention programs protect women and children in vulnerable communities through education and anti-trafficking presentations.Donate now to prevent human trafficking and help survivors find healing.
