Sr. Associate, Account Events & Market Registration
Brandywine Global Investment Management
Philadelphia, Pa
In the Account Events role, I helped form and began to lead an operational team responsible for take-on of new institutional international client accounts, account transitions (custody changes/asset transfers) and client account terminations on behalf of the operational teams. This included: the set-up of new and existing bank relationships, streamlining internal and external communications, coordinating the department representation for standard and non-standard tasks, navigating the operational teams through custom set-up requirements, implementing unique account structures for various account types with various combinations of cash and security fundings in order to meet funding deadlines. I was required to have an understanding of internal operational trade processing and support functions for fixed income and equity products across the firm, yet provide the necessary leadership to get the job done. I also needed the ability to identify SMEs and related stakeholders to bring them timely information and solution issues in a timely manner. The element of Market Registration required working with our clients' banks to open international security and cash markets in time for account funding, and coordinating and/or updating market related documentation on as needed basis. I was the key SME in creating an effective tracking database for maintaining our custodian market opening statuses on a client account level and track our workflow. This role carried extremely high levels of financial and client risk to our firm if not performed with proper detailed attention to procedures and controls.
