Hilary Lancaster, Australian by origin, is an award-winning interior designer with over 25 years of international experience designing for some of the world’s most high-profile clients and projects. After graduating in Sydney, Hilary began her career in Singapore with the distinguished firm DP Architects, working on the interiors of the landmark performing arts centre, The Esplanade Theatres on The Bay. Hilary’s 6 years of working in Singapore established her solid career and her range of design skills as she worked across sectors from hospitality, to retail, to residential and F&B design. Hilary’s experience travelling and working in South-East Asia resulted in her developing her eclectic style and her interest in incorporating elements of different styles and cultures as inspiration for her interiors - which inspired the name of her company ‘Fusion Interiors Group’ (FIG). From Singapore, Hilary moved in 2000 to London, where she worked for the international firms Benoy, HOK Architects and Dexter Moren Architects, until in 2007 when she set up FIG. Along with luxury residential projects in the UK, some of her first commissions were retail projects in India. She worked for the Tata Group on a new concept for Star India Bazaar and a shopping Mall in Ahmedabad. In 2009 Hilary relocated to Paris. Here she built a strong base of French clients, including Ascott, for whom she designed many Serviced Apartments, and Club Med. Her Citadines project in Barcelona, which ran for 4 years led her to Spain. During this period Hilary also travelled extensively in the Middle East building her network and working on projects including a Palace in Abu Dhabi and a luxury Spa Villa in Doha. Back in the UK in 2015 FIG won a series of hotel projects in Amsterdam which took Hilary to yet another exciting city and culture. Hilary and FIG have won numerous awards. Her design of the SKYBAR cafe in Manchester won a prestigious RIBA award. In 2016/2017 she received “Most Innovative Interior Designer in Europe” Build Award. In 2019 FIG received a Global 100 award for excellence in Hospitality Design and Best Female Owned ID Company. Following FIG's recent award in “Best Hotel in The Americas and Caribbean” competition, Hilary intends to expand FIG into the Caribbean region. In 2021 Hilary was a finalist in the Brit List top 20 Interior Designers in the UK. Hilary’s fierce desire to be different is part of the DNA of her work, where she will not allow trends to lead her. Instead she is led by the vision of each client resulting in unique, creative, and timeless designs.
