Future collection is an ambitious transformation of government collection and is currently the largest digitization program in Norway. The program runs over seven years.

The tax authorities are modernizing the VAT area. The VAT area is more or less unchanged since it changed from sales tax to value added tax in 1970, and is based on manual work operations. The modernization will include:- increase compliance with the tax rules- reduce the opportunities for hidden finances- simplify for businesses
