Sustainable Destination is the Nordic region’s only national labelling scheme for travel destinations with a focus on sustainability. It is a tool for businesses and destinations that are working systematically to become more sustainable when it comes to the environment, local communities, cultural heritage, and the economy.Although the label does not indicate that a destination is 100 % sustainable, it does mean that it has embarked on a long-term process. Destinations are evaluated every three years.Now, Vest-Telemark, including the municipalities of Fyresdal, Kviteseid, Nissedal, Seljord, Tokke and Vinje have become a part of the Sustainable Destination program.

As an operations engineer at Svalbard Satellite Station's (Svalsat) 24/7 operation centre, I provided advanced monitoring services to customers worldwide, and supported them in communication with their polar orbiting satellites, whether it was uplinking commands to the satellite or downloading data from the satellite. I also supported customers in updates/troubleshooting/maintenance of their hardware/back-end equipment. Svalsat supports more than 20 000 satellite passes per month with a proficiency of over 99%.The remote location of the polar ground station, 500 m.a.s.l., also required that we participate in a variety of maintenance activities on site, to ensure professional and efficient operations all year around.

As a Real-time Engineer in a customer Onshore Operation Centre (OOC) I was a part of a team which drilled more than 5 producing oil wells, in a time periode of 3 years, with increasing production rate throughout the periode. As a Real-time Engineer I provided real-time surface logging and measurements while drilling services (MWD/LWD), in addition to real-time well control, monitoring mud loss trends and drilling parameters, to aid safe and efficient drilling operations at Valhall IP (Injection Platform). -Operating Baker Hughes' suite of MWD/LWD tools.-Programming the downhole tools. -Monitoring ECD trends and downhole, real-time measurements. -Assisting the Directional Drilling Supervisor and Radiation Protection Supervisor.-Close cooperation with Driller, Derrickman, Drillig Supervisor, Rig crew etc.

As a Field Engineer Trainee in Ecuador I mainly worked on land rigs in the Amazon rainforest, in the remote and challenging areas of Sushufindi, Lago Agrio and Aquarico. The work was hands-on, with rig-up of the entire surface logging system, installing sensors, dragging cables and preparing the logging unit, with all its safety precousions, installing all the hardware and software for the drilling operations. I worked 12-18 hours a day, five weeks in a go.The training involved:-Programming and operating the Schlumberger MWD/LWD tool suite.-Installing rig sensors and the entire surface logging system/equipment (rig up).-Tool programming, handling and operation.-Careful communication with the rig crew. -Operating language: Spanish.

Vitenfabrikiken (“The Science Factory”) is a technical museum that focuses on conveying natural sciences (mathematics, chemistry and physics) in an interactive and hands-on manner. I was a part of the team that started up the science museum, and participated in its growth from over 40 000 vititors a year (2009), to almost 70 000 visitors a year (2011).During my time at Vitenfabrikken a diversity of tasks comprised of: -The manager in charge of the facilities every 4th weekend.-Leader of “Forskerfabrikken - The Science Factory”. An afternoon course for children aged 10-13, involving chemistry and physics experimentation.-Leading teambuilding for business groups.-Guiding school classes of any level through the exhibition area.-Provide the best possible service to general audience/visitors-Communicate the museum philosophy to visitors/sponsors/customers.

Independent project interpreting 3D seismic data from offshore Western Africa. Acquired tools and methods needed to establish geological evolution of the area, including interpreting and analyzing seismic reflections and creating isochron and amplitude maps in Landmark's SeisWorks and GeoProbe programs.
