I work as JLI’s first ever trademark counsel and have built a global trademark program from the ground up. In addition to creating (and implementing) JLI’s internal policies for trademarks and related IP, I have overseen the significant global expansion of JLI’s program for TM/copyright enforcement, marketing review, prosecution, and clearance. These programs remain a success today. Responsibilities include: Develop and implement JLI’s trademark and copyright policies (external and internal) and conduct cross-functional IP trainings Manage trademark clearance and prosecution program, securing protection of the JUUL brand and related assets in more than 90 markets. In 2020, I brought the TM clearance program in-house to significantly reduce clearance costs for JLI and in 2022 we have cleared 100+ marks/terms. Similarly, I developed in-house programs for copyright prosecution and domain acquisition--JLI has extensively grown these portfolios since 2018, but with limited expense to the company.
